10 golden rules for brushing your pet’s teeth
- Brush every day,
- Carefully brush all surfaces of the incisors, cnines, premolars and molars,
- Brush each side for at least 30 seconds,
- Do not use toothpaste intended for humans,
- Adjust the force used as appropriate with gentle movements,
- Rotate the toothbrush in order to remove plaque and food remains,
- Familiarise your dog to be touch in the mouth between 3 – 7 months of age,
- Start gradually, beginning with the premolars and molars,
- Avoid initiating brushing if your dog presents gingival pain,
- Provide rewards for the progress made.
Occasional brushing is not enough to keep the gums healthy !
